Last time we looked at Zircon, we were reviewing their HD55. I now think of this as the new minimum for every home owner or DIYer.

Logically, the next step is to think about the professional, or someone who wants to do more than the minimum at home. That takes us to the Zircon MultiScanner™ A200

The Zircon MultiScanner™ A200 is a versatile tool for anyone needing to locate studs, metal, and live wires behind walls. Its user-friendly interface and advanced features make it a standout choice for both DIY enthusiasts and professionals. Let’s start off with the best and move our way down the list. As you move the scanner across the wall, the display provides real-time feedback, showing the location of the stud edges and center. This visual representation makes it easy to pinpoint the exact position of the stud, ensuring accurate and efficient work.

The A200 also excels in detecting different types of metal. It can distinguish between ferrous (magnetic) and non-ferrous (non-magnetic) metals, which is particularly useful when working with various materials. For example, it can identify steel pipes up to 3 inches deep and copper pipes up to 1.5 inches deep. This capability is invaluable when you need to avoid damaging pipes or other metal objects hidden behind walls.

While working with the A200 I wanted to test other abilities beyond what the HD55 can do. For this we moved into metal and signal strength indicator.

As you get closer to the metal, the bars get fuller until you hit the center.

The screen works well in dim to no light. the light from the top sensor doesn’t cause any glare on the main screen.

While running the tests, we had a 100% success rate while testing metal and power. Overall, the Zircon MultiScanner™ A200 is a reliable and efficient tool that simplifies the process of locating studs, metal, and live wires. Its user-friendly interface and advanced detection capabilities make it an excellent choice for a wide range of applications.

Anybody looking for a Stud finder would not be disappointed with the Zircon MultiScanner™ A200 If you can spare the extra money from the HD55, I think it is worth it. In either case you’ll walk away with a great scanner, but the extra features while still keeping it in the consumer pricing makes it all but a sure thing for me.
