Jookie wants you to change the way your kids listen to audio by taking away one of the newest and most game-changing features of music devices: the screen!?
It turns out that many kids get too much screen time, at least that’s what 67 different publications have to say. So how is this going to work without a screen? How do I shuffle through my random videos on Youtube or any other system, this can’t be real can it?
Jookie has created an audio device with 5GB of storage that can also stream with Spotify. If it seems like something that may have been made 18 years ago, it’s because it was.
So why is it here and how could it be useful?
- UFC tags allow someone to program what plays from the device when they are scanned. This could be songs or an audiobook etc. The child gets to feel in control of their listening while still being limited to the playlist that has been pre-programmed to that UFC tag.
- No screen, as mentioned kids get a bit too much screen time as it is.
- Wi-Fi for streaming
- Bluetooth for headsets
- No buttons or screens or options for kids to mess anything up or listen to something they shouldn’t
The Jookie costs $113 for the speaker and 2 UFC tokens
This seems like it could be useful for a child that is 3 or less, an age where they may not be able to manage their own audio or read. For any kid over the age of 4, it seems like this is just worse than the 40 other Mp3 options out there.
If you need Wi-Fi for your kid’s device, there are $60 devices with more storage and options with or without screens. If Wi-Fi isn’t needed, you can find double the space for $30 also, with or without a screen. I’m sure there are a few people in the world where this could potentially be the best option. For the other 94% of us, there are better options out there than the new Jookie.
